Our International Open Pom Team Frontline is back and as you can see we have doubled our numbers (and doubled the talent).

On Saturday 13th April our gorgeous ladies took to the comp floor at the Magna Arena in Rotherham for FC Steel the Show. We are very proud to announce they came home with a fabulous 2nd place title and some excellent feedback.

On the 7th April our Open Senior Level 3 Non Tumble team Odyssey took to the road to compete at BCA Spring Spirit in Crawley. This is the first time the team has competed together with many athletes brand new to cheer. The competition was an amazing experience. A personal highlight was seeing UA Black perform (Level 7NT).

Odyssey came away with fabulous a 2nd place!

Boy were we excited to hear about the return of BCA to Wales! What a fabulous day, with some fabulous results from our Senior and Junior Competitive teams;

Stardust Pom 2nd place, Luna Lyrical 2nd place, Eclipse Pom 2nd place, Supernova Lyrical 3rd place, Elite Level 2 Cheer 4th place, Blackout Level 1 Cheer 7th place.

A huge well done to our athletes and parents for taking on our infamous sponsored walk again this year. Each year we are faced with a new challenge, and this year was definitely MUD!

Our athletes took on the walk to raise funds for competition entry for this seasons remaining competitions. Each person set themselves a challenge, some chose to dress up, carry a weighted backpack or be an inflatable shark.

So far we have raised close to £1000

Our first competition of the season! Congratulations to our Junior and Senior Teams for competing at ICC Westerns. This is the first time we have attended this comp and we 100% will be returning!

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Frontline International Open Pom will be representing Obsidian and BANES in America at the Allstar World Championships 2025!

The team have been working tirelessly these past few months to perfect their routine in the hopes of gaining a bid (invite) to compete at this competition, we are buzzing for them!

Allstar Worlds is a worldwide competition held in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Centre. It is a huge competition that you can only attend if you win a bid (invite).

Congratulations to the ladies of Frontline International Open Pom who competed at the UDE Championships on Sunday 26th November - gaining yet another 1st place trophy and title.

This competition is the last time the girls will perform with this music and team, it’s time to recruit and begin new choreography for 2024!

Congratulations to our Carnival Team for taking part in this years procession. 15 athletes, between the ages of 6-25, took to the streets in Midsomer Norton, Shepton Mallet and Wells and had an exceptional time showcasing as Cowgirls. Lots of hard work went into these Carnivals, and we could not have done any of it without our fabulous parent volunteers, walkers, music techs and lighting techs.

We are also pleased to say the girls came home with a 2nd place award (MSN) and two 5ths (Shepton and Wells) in an incredibly tough adult division.

Congratulation to Coaches Mollie and Aliya and Cheer Mum’s Sara and Lisa for completing the Bath Half on Sunday. We are so proud of you all! They managed to raise £235 for Obsidian’s competition teams!

For the last 6 weeks, leading up to the showcase, some of our lovely parents got together and learnt a Cheerleading routine. They overcame their nerves and doubts and performed exceptionally, making all their little cheerleaders (and perhaps some family members) very proud!

In light of how successful this group was, we are pleased to say Obsidian Cheer and Dance will be hosting Masters Cheer every Thursday 8:00-9:15pm on Thursdays at The Hive in Peasedown. Come along and learn some new skills in a super friendly welcoming environment! (ages 17+ only)

On Saturday 15th July over 100 athletes from Obsidian Cheer and Dance took to the stage, at The Roper Theatre, to perform routines for their friends and family. It was such a special day full of bright lights, loud cheers, and great music. Well done to all athletes who took part and thank you to the coaches and volunteers for helping to make it all happen.

On Saturday 3rd June our Blackout Cheerleaders competed for the very first time at Southern Chill Bristol. It was a jammed packed morning full of excitement and nerves but we are incredibly proud to say they came away with a 3rd place trophy! Congratulations girls!

On Sunday 21st May our two elite teams; Senior Eclipse Pom and International Open Pom Frontline took to the floor in Walsall at ICE’s UDE Dance Event. Our athletes had the best time, and performed their routines flawlessly. We are incredibly proud to say our results were the following:

Congratulations to our athletes for competing at DC12 Cardiff on 1st & 2nd April. We took our two elite teams; Senior Eclipse Pom and Senior Elite Level 2.1 Cheer as well as our two soloists to perform on what we considered the biggest and most dramatic stage we’ve ever set foot on.

On Tuesday 21st March, Coach Harriet and 11 pupils from Westfield Primary School went to the Bath Forum to perform at the Dance Umbrella.

Coach Harriet has been working with this group for only 7 weeks and put together a street dance routine that showcased the absolute best of each of the dancers. The routine included gymnastics, partner work, group lifts and lots of sassiness. They did an outstanding job with their performance and received lots of compliments from the other schools and officials.

On Sunday 19th March our competition Dance and Stunt teams took to the comp floor for the first time this season. This was the first competition for many of our newbies.

On Sunday 5th March, over 30 children, adults, parents and carers took part in a 12 Hour Dance-a-thon raising money and awareness for Red Nose Day.

We were incredibly lucky to be joined by external dance teachers including Lizzie Rose Dance, Siobhan from FuzeFit and Jordan Scrasey (as well as Obsidian coaches) who taught a range of dance styles to keep us engaged and moving throughout.

At the end of the event we managed to raise £200 for Red Nose Day!

On Saturday 18th Feb, athletes from Obsidian Blackout, Eclipse and Elite, took part in a 13 mile walk alongside parents to raise money for their competition uniforms. 30,000 steps and 6 hours later we a delighted to say we have raised over £1000.

This money will be going towards our Cheerleading Comp entry, uniforms which cost around £190 per athlete, and any accessories needed (such as bows).

On Saturday 4th Feb our International Open Pom Team; Frontline competed for the first time in Warwick at Cheer City Winter Spectacular. This team trains at Hayesfield Girls School for 4 hours each month. They came away from the competition with a 3rd place win in a super tough division.

On Sunday 4th December, we hosted the first ever Obsidian in-house competition for our recreational athletes. We are so proud of each and every cheerleader, gymnast and dancer who took part in the event. It was so special to see what they have been working on in class with their coaches and our outside judges (Lizzie, Tash, and Ricky) were so impressed with their talent!

We are also incredibly proud of our Junior and Senior Competition teams for showcasing their routines (so far) before they take to the comp floor next year!

On Saturday 9th July, Obsidian held it’s first Summer showcase at The Roper Theatre in Bath. This spectacular event welcomed over 200 parents/friends & family members and showcased 100 of our incredibly talented athletes in Cheerleading, Dance and Acro Gymnastics. We are so incredibly proud of every person who took part in INTERSTELLAR and would like to thank all of our supporters for helping make this season so magical. Let’s go season 22/23! #OCAD

We are super pleased to announce our coaches Mollie and Harriet recently won an at large bid to compete in the Allstar Worlds Championships in Orlando Florida 2023 with their Pom Team Expecto (EntityX). Congratulations ladies!

Obsidian recently took their school team OPJS Eclipse to their first Competition in Bristol where they placed 1st in the school level 1 division! A HUGEE achievement!
