At Obsidian Cheer and Dance we place a strong emphasis on building confidence, self-esteem, team building, responsibility and leadership. We focus on providing our athletes with well-rounded training and ensure a wide number of opportunities for all including; showcases, carnival performances, in-house competitions, social ‘get togethers’, workshops with industry professionals and summer training programmes.

We look for passionate, determined, resilient athletes of all abilities - we recruit throughout September and occasionally mid season (March). A try-out must be completed for any athlete who wishes to be apart of a competition team. Try-outs can be arranged via email (admin@obsidiancad.co.uk) when we advertise.

This season we have introduced our new Junior Comp Team programme (suitable for athletes 8-14 years old). Last season we took our Blackout Level 1 Cheerleading team to their first competition in Bristol. They not only managed to perform in front of a huge crowd but also came away with a 3rd place title! This season we have added Luna (lyrical) and Stardust (pom dance) to the mix. These teams will be competing in 2-3 national competitions in the year 2024. They are currently training for 1.5 hours every week (however most athletes are on more than one team i.e. crossover).

Cheer & Dance Shoes

For current comp parents/carers: All dancers (in lyrical &/or pom dance) will receive a pair of dance shoes which are only to be worn at competitions. This should hopefully avoid too much wear and tear. Any extra training shoes must be provided by yourselves. Cheerleading trainers must also be provided by yourselves. We have attached some links below to website where you can purchase your own pair of the exact same shoes. For competitions we require all dancers to have the same pair (in training this does not matter), Cheerleaders must wear white trainers (no arch soles allowed).
